1. Overview
SaveIt ("we", "us") provides a URL shortener, QR code generator, password generator, and SEO meta tag generator at saveit.site. This policy explains what data each tool collects, why, and how it's protected. Most tools work without an account; creating an account only affects how your history is stored.
2. Account data
If you register, we store your name, email, and a bcrypt-hashed password (never plaintext). Sign-in issues a JWT session token stored in your browser's local storage. We never sell or share your account data with third parties.
3. URL Shortener
When you shorten a link, we store the destination URL, the generated short code, and a click counter. If you're logged in, the link is associated with your account so it appears in your dashboard; anonymous links are not tied to any identity.
4. QR Code Generator
We store the QR content, styling options, and a scan counter. For trackable QR codes, each scan logs the scanning device's IP-derived country, device type (mobile/tablet/desktop), and timestamp — used only to show you aggregate analytics for your own codes. We do not resell or share scan data.
5. Password Generator
Passwords are generated entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API — the plaintext password never reaches our servers. If you choose to save a password, it is encrypted in your browser (AES-GCM, key derived via PBKDF2 from a PIN only you know) before being sent to us. We store only the resulting ciphertext and cannot decrypt it ourselves.
6. SEO Tags Generator
This tool processes the title, description, URL, and image you enter to generate meta tags. It does not persist your input on our servers beyond the request needed to build the response.
7. Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns (pages visited, general location, device type) so we can improve the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and may collect data as described in Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out using your browser's cookie settings or the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
8. Cookies and local storage
We use local storage (not cookies) to keep you signed in between visits, plus analytics cookies described above. We don't use third-party advertising trackers.
9. Data retention & deletion
We retain account and tool data for as long as your account is active. To request deletion of your account and associated data, contact us using the details below.
